Biography



Lucien Puyelo (1927-2003) was born in Sète, the city of his life. Self-taugh artist,
friend of Lassale, encouraged by Francois Desnoyer and member of Sète's school with Couderc, Bessil, Sarthou... his work is a true ode to our city, our harbour and our sea. Discover it, was like going back fifty  years ago.

Sailors, fishes and fishermen, women, shells, boats, bridges, the crowd,  water tournament, the pond, the sea and the beach are the main themes of  his paintings. Twenty years ago, he displayed his art at the Paul Valery museum in Sète. But also everywhere in France : Menton, Monaco, Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Perpignan, Montpellier, Narbonne...
He was rewarded many times, notably for the "Grand prix du Dome à Paris". His own style is inspired by the fauvism, cubism, impressionism, representational naive art.
